The Republic Day of India is a national holiday of India to mark the adoption of the constitution of India and the transition of India from a British Dominion to a republic on January 26, 1950. It is one of the three national holidays in India.

Although India obtained its independence on August 15, 1947, it did not yet have a permanent constitution; instead, its laws were based on the modified colonial Government of India Act 1935, and the country was a Dominion, with George VI as head of state and Earl Mountbatten as Governor General.

26th January is celebrated as India’s republic day. On this day the constitution of India was written & our nation became a truly sovereign state. Republic day is accepted as the national festival & people celebrate the day with much enthusiasm & joy. Although it is celebrated all over India but the day has its own value in Delhi. In capital the eve is start with the Presidential to the nation. The award ceremony is also held, in which medals are given to the armed forces for their bravery & exceptional courage.

Every year, in the honor of this day a grand parade is organized in Delhi, which held from Rashtrapati Bahwan to India gate. The ceremony of march past is also held which includes the soldiers of arm forces, navy forces & air forces. School students also give their performance in the function, which covers folk dance, patriotic songs drills & other activities.

The Republic day parade is the combination of all the states of country. Each state represents its culture & we find whole India together. The parade ceremony & all the other events are telecasted on national television & are watched by each Indian in every corner of nation.
