When I came here, I was excited and nervous at the same time. How will it be? The very first day introduction followed by “why VJIM?” was quiet wavy. Lots of reasons came up. That was the time I observed that this is a place where individuals from different backgrounds and different mindsets are gathered – to form an entity – XVIII batch PGDM !
This is a mixture – cannot become a compound.
Induction program which was carried on for first two days changed things for me. I belonged to a group now, made friends, did tasks with them and laughed. My group was the best among all others.
I started MBA with ‘Terror of Director’ and ‘burden of pre-term’. The friendly junior-senior interactions were too warm those days. I didn’t know I was sleep deprived, suffering from malnutrition, or in identity crisis, may be all of them.
Initial weeks brought me friends from different regions and languages. We are different but alike. We had our pre-term exams. Half came out with flying colors, other half with pale colors (on faces). Followed were mammoths of life time – article summary, term paper, power point presentations, quizzes, CGPA, Jam sessions & talk-before-all tasks, (de)motivation in auditorium sessions. But we cleared those obstacles in our first trimester.
For the first time I had to read Economics Times, which is actually interesting at times. Enveloped in the library walls are some of the excellent books, journals and magazines. Sports complex is state-of-art. I still adore the infrastructure and architecture of our institute.
I played and enjoyed and partied in second trimester. Now I am a pressure handler. I can manage pressure up to 7 Gs now! It was recreational and educational both. I did all tasks on time, with ease and in better manner. I managed to have quality time with friends too. I came to know others better in the peaceful environment of hostel. We celebrated festivals together.
Mixture became compound!
In the institute we had a wonderful ‘Annual General Meet’. After which we had –
· An interactive students forum (working hard to interact with everyone)
· A student’s committee (working hard to work hard)
· An industrial visit (well, almost!)
· Two suggestion boxes (used with caution)
· Floor without drinking water (for 2 weeks at least)
· Password to our laptops (much awaited by all)
‘National conference’ taught us that we can work as a team and achieve success. We applied our new sense of togetherness while working for Chrysalis. With no time available, we were able to give college fest the tag of ‘thumbs up’ by working extra long during daytime and overtimes at night. Alumni meet carries that flag and so does National Debate Competition.
With all the experiences, I am delighted to be a part of VJIM family. Deemed Professors have wisdom and knowledge, seniors were co-operative and friends are genuine. I have faced heat at times, with or without reason, but so did others. This reminds me that life is not always fair and it is tough.
I sincerely wish that we, the students and the institute, get better by the passing day and add new chapters of success to our respective platforms.
And now, I am Senior… Another year of new experiences…
